Monday Musings

Some highlights from the weekend...

I'm not sure if a normal person would consider a new notebook a "weekend highlight" but blame my notebook obsession on my school teacher Mom (she has about a million pretty notebooks in her purse at one time). This gem is from Target and combines my love for stripes and gold. I think jotting down work notes and personal to-do-lists in a pretty new notebook makes it way more fun.

Spending all day Saturday on Duxbury Beach.

Relaxing after a long beach day with a glass of Pinot Noir and my newest TV obsession, Orange is the New Black, on the iPad outside. Just perfect.

Sunday, we finally started painting our kitchen cabinets. This is something we have been talking about doing since we were first shown the house by our real estate agent. We'd been putting it off waiting for the perfect weekend to start it. Turns out, there isn't one and on Sunday we planned to start the project. We headed to Lowe's on Sunday and the nicest guy in the paint department, Art, helped us purchase all the right types of paint. We even left it up to Art to help us choose between two almost identical white paint colors- Art chose my pick and said he also used that color on his cabinets. It was meant to be and the name- Chef White- I loved and thought was perfect for kitchen cabinets. Does anyone else pick paint colors (and nail polish colors for that matter) by the names?

Yesterday, we took down all of the cabinets and removed all hardware. Then, we primed and painted two coats of paint on all the backs of the cabinets. We also primed and painted one cost on the cabinet frames. Today, Luke is going to paint another coat on the frames and prime and paint the fronts of the cabinets. We are already loving how it looks and were so happy to begin a major project we'd been talking about for so long.

After some hard work during the day, we took a dip in the ocean to cool off and  I made a Simple Summer Spaghetti for dinner. We settled in to watch the premiere of Breaking Bad, but I fell asleep (as usual) towards the end.

And the weekly Monday Musing:
eyes wide open
"And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."- Roald Dahl
