DIY Footstool

So my plan was to reupholster the wing back chair that has been in our garage for almost 2 years (since we moved in). I was ready to go-- had researched all the best blog tutorials out there and had even picked out the fabric at Jo Ann Fabric, when I decided  a. I was not up for the task  and b. the fabric I liked was no where near the 5 yards I needed and c. fabric is expensive.

I also decided I didn't loathe the fabric on the chair and that I could easily modernize it with pillows and a DIY footstool in fun, printed fabrics. So this led me to my scaled down project of transforming a cheap Target side table into a footstool. The Target side table had also been in my garage, unused for a while, and it's really similar to the Ikea Lack table.

I used this tutorial with the only addition of adding batting around the legs as well. I also might cut down the legs in the future, I think it's a little high for the chair. But, it's most likely my laziness will win that battle and it will stay this height forever.

I chose a red coral-print outdoor fabric, inspired by these red printed footstools I saw and LOVED in Better Homes and Gardens magazine:

And now, Dexter will show you the final result:

I still may reupholster the chair in the future, but for now I am totally happy with the additions of the footstool and ikat pillow.

ALSO, Happy Birthday to my best gal pal, Amelia, today! Here's a cute one of us embracing at my wedding! :)
